Audi Neckarsulm plant resumes car production

Car assembling restarts at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm on Monday. Mobile plexiglass shields, for example, are used to comply with the distance standards to minimize the risk of infection.

Up to 8,000 employees returned to their jobs on Monday for the first time in over a month. According to a spokeswoman, production of the A4 and A6 models initially started in single-shift operation. And alternately with part of the workforce for two weeks in the permanent early shift, then with the other part in the permanent late shift.


The employees who are not employed in each case go into short-time work, which was extended until the end of the month for the Audi plant in Neckarsulm (Heilbronn district).

The luxury model A8 will continue to be produced in two shifts until the end of the week to secure individual markets, and will also be produced in one shift from next week.

For the protection of health, various safety precautions were implemented at the workplace for the restart of production, ranging from mobile plexiglass panels to gloves and face protection.
