What can be the cause of white smoke coming out of the exhaust when idle and accelerating?

My 1996 Celica has been stationary and not in use for about 8 months, but has had its oil and coolant changed as well as a new radiator about 6 months ago. I placed the battery in it today and started to drive around and it seemed fine, however when I have it parked and get outside and look, there is a very obvious thin white fume coming out and it becomes worse when I hold the accelerator down.

The smell is a petrol/burning smell (obviously).

The engine temperature is good and right bang is in the middle of the gauge.

(1). What are the possible causes? Is it definitely a issue? Is it to do with being stationary for so long?

(2). If taken to a mechanic and it is one of the problems, what is the cheapest something like this would cost and what’s the worst case scenario/price?

If it's a white/blueish color it's oil.

Definitely pure white. I forgot to mention the oil was changed 6 months ago as well.

It could be coolant or oil, I would watch the level of both fluids and see if you can notice a change. You should be able to smell it if it's oil or coolant. Having fluids mixing is never a good sign. Burning oil could mean worn valve stems, guides and seals or piston rings. If it's coolant that means you probably have a warped head or bad gasket. Could also be the manifold gasket.

I checked the coolant. I got some advice I got was to take the radiator cap off and to let the engine run and see if it bubbles - it did. Is this dumb advice or does this mean something. The coolant overflows was soon as the car starts from the radiator cap.
