This car has a high idle, a rough start, pressing on the gas during the idle makes it fluctuate from low to high idle, and then eventually just stalls out. The MAF has been replaced in it several times, something in there keeps burning it out, three MAF have burned out. We haven't checked the TPS yet because that's a lot of money adn then it can possibly be something involved with VAC?

Any idea what it could be? If it is the MAF, what keeps burning it out other than bad wiring?

Things i would check and replace asap if you can.

1. Fuel filter could be clogged or clogging or even dirty even if not, cheap and should be done anyways.

2. Run some fuel cleaner through the system

3. Replace air filter and make sure the intake area under the driver side fender is not clogged

4. Take off the plastic large hose going to the throttle body from the air box and turn the car over, make sure its has plenty of suction by placing your hand over the throttle intake. Only for a second though

5. Change your oil dirty oil can cause high idle. I run 10 W 30 full synthetic with a platinum synthetic filter only cost 25$ to change so its still pretty cheap.

I'll second the Angel Bateson's advice as well, and additionally check for vacuum leaks if all that fails. Maybe your PCV PCV valve can be causing burned MAFs? Honestly though this is a stumper.

When was the last time you've had a tune up? Changing spark plugs, coils, and wires might help you. I've noticed with my Lucerne, it's good to update certain parts for better performance.
