Hello, first time posting here but just looking to get some advice before I find a place to take it next week.

Recent issues. So my car is getting pretty old but it's at about 80k miles which I think isn't too bad for it being 12 years old. I recently had to have the transmission rebuilt, and shortly after that there was some problem where it got stuck in neutral. I think it ended up having something to do with the internal wiring of the gear stick.

Main incident. I was driving over a speedbump, and after the front of the car passed over the car seemed to shut off. The sound of the engine went quiet. Pressing the gas did nothing. The steering wheel locked up. The car would just roll backwards (since I was going up hill). I was able to put the car in park. The brake was also rigid but I assume that happens after I put it in park? Another interesting problem was that my AC was still going, but it was no longer cool. I had it at max AC on full blast. I was able to turn the key to "turn off the car" and then just restart it. After that the car was able to drive fine.

I'm pretty sure it had to do with the bump because my car has a tendency to act strangely when going over bumps sometimes. The main thing is that the AC speed will change. Like it will go to full blast or the lowest setting when hitting bumps.

From some searching I think maybe the engine just went off? Maybe the key wasn't being properly being detected in the ignition (but the AC kept going so that seems wrong). What was likely the issue? How much am I looking to spend to fix this? How long does it usually take to repair? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my post!

The engine stalled, but there's a hundred reasons that could happen, fuel pump, loose battery terminal, other loose electrical connections. Just long enough to die.
