I daily drive an 88 Ford Crown Vic LX and it runs like a champ. But for the 3rd time since I bought it I went to start it and when I turned the key there was a single click and all the dashboard lights went out, and the only way for the car to get power again is by unplugging and plugging the battery back in. I originally thought it was the starter solenoid so I’ve replaced that but it still happens. Any ideas?

Have you had the battery tested? Alternator and starter can be tested as well. You may want to also try replacing the battery terminal connections. Check your grounds and clean them up as well.

I know the battery and alternator are brand new as I had them replaced when I bought it, but I’ll check the starter

It’s probably a dirty battery connection.
