Can someone explain whether there is a noticeable difference in daily operation between Matrix LED and HD Matrix LED headlights?

So far I have only found out that the light initiation when opening and closing the vehicle is only available with the HD Matrix LED headlights. But are there any differences in lighting and brightness?

Or can you neglect that?

I am about to choose a new vehicle. Have two shortlisted. Both have advantages and disadvantages in their way of furnishing. That's why I'm particularly interested in the headlights.

As far as I know it is almost the same in function. The differences are, in my opinion, the nicer optics of the HD matrix and a higher resolution.

The HD Matrix LED was built into the Probe A6, which I found to be a bit harsh and unbalanced. Yesterday again had an A5 with the "normal" matrix (I know, the ones in the A6 are structured differently), which were much more pleasant. The range of the lamps is also very good. I still find the unbalanced illumination a bit annoying, but it may also be a matter of getting used to. The synthetic cornering light can actually only be an emergency solution. In any case is not comparable to xenon cornering light, including side lighting ect. The matrix cannot keep up.

The xenon cornering light mechanically rotates the entire light cone. The LED curve light only switches another LED into the curve to generate the light there. The two starting points for the light source are almost identical and therefore the angle at which the vehicle shines into the curve. Why should the mechanically turned cornering light have better illumination?

I never drove xenon cornering lights myself, only the Matrix and I thought that was very good.

I now know the 3 systems Volvo XC90, A6 4G and MB Multibeam very well.

I would see Matrix (Audi) and Multibeam (MB) on one level. The more segments of the multibeam and (presumably the HD matrix) make themselves felt in a better horizontal resolution. The segments are a bit finer, but you can clearly see steps when cornering and masking out. How exactly you want to mask out the front man is done by the addition -HD. I think that is irrelevant in practice. It is more important that the outside areas remain illuminated. All systems can do that.

AB-Licht MB and Audi can do this much better than Volvo. The Volvo drives with a slightly raised beam of light, which is somewhat improved for the low beam. Audi and MB are already illuminating the edges with full force. MB omits the opposite lane, while Audi also illuminates that. The error rate is not extremely high, but it is also not negligibly small that one can do without the "control".

The steering anti-glare lights of the Volvo (MB, Audi) are clearly superior on the country road, especially in tight bends. However, the Volvo's 3 level light switch sometimes has too little power when the "Ultra" high beam LEDs are not activated.

Lots of highway: clearly Audi and MB Matrix.

A lot of country roads and rather tight curves: Volvo Matrix is better.
