On our XC90 D5 136KW with 6-speed manual transmission, the turbo now makes such noises and has a drop in performance that it is exchangeable.

My question to you would be whether I can exchange it myself or whether too much special tool would be necessary.

It would also be really helpful if you could write some kind of repair instructions.

As far as I know, great special tools are not needed ... just tools and not toys!

Problems can always arise during disassembly ... rusted or tightly fitting screws, defective hoses that you will only discover later, etc. ... if you have the right replacement, the replacement shouldn't be a big problem ... same problems are possible with a used replacement like the old one. In particular, you should pay attention to the flexible pipe in the downpipe ... they like hops with such actions and repair or replacement is difficult.

Thank you for the feedback.

I was planning to take part in all the hoses and seals, but unfortunately I am missing part numbers or a diagram.
