My fiance has a ‘2011 Impala LT that suffers from the (apparently) extremely common brake rotor warping problem, seemingly caused by shitty brake cooling.

Chevy’s TSB recommends changing the backing plates out for the police pack plates which have cooling vents in them or some nonsense.

Do any techs who dealt with these things know if that actually solves the problem? Just remove the backing shields all together? I’ve put like three sets of rotors on this car in the past two years and it’s infuriating.

Thanks for any input on the situation.

Tsb's are released to save time at the dealership for common complains and problems. If there is a tsb for it, then that will most certainly be the fix. Providing everything else is up to pay, brake hoses, caliper slides, driver does not drive with w feet, etc.

I'd be questioning how your fiance drives/brakes in all honesty.

Yes, she is hard on the foot.

The reality of this is that you'll have to deal with this the rest of your life. Haha. Anyway, best of luck.

I’m just trying to remain positive lol. We both don’t really like the car but it was given to her, so we don’t complain.

I’d rather just sell it and buy an XJ because it’s like driving a fishbowl and you can’t hurt it.
