Hello, I have an A3 1.4 TFSI 16V.

I do not know exactly how it happened but on Monday morning after about 6 km of travel my ABS lamp and the brake light (which lights up when you apply the parking brake) starts to light up with the message on the display "brake fault drive carefully to the nearest workshop”.

In advance I have to say that I did a few laps with friends on Saturday. It was wet on the streets and we did something like "spin the wheels". I did not turn off the ABS or ESP. So far so good, I didn't drive on Sunday. And then suddenly it started giving this problem on Monday morning. Could it have something to do with it? I'm pretty unsure.

I was in a workshop on Monday and had fault memories read out. It came out that there was an error in the braking system, more precisely it said that "ABS engine control system is defective". As a result, the error was deleted and did not occur. The same day I drove about 20 km and everything was still fine. Another day passed when I got back in my car on Tuesday morning and drove off. After about 6 km the same symbols came on again. My question is: if the ABS control system were really defective, wouldn't the warning symbol light be permanently on? I was also recommended in the workshop that I should have the ABS control unit renewed at VW / Audi. I definitely do not want that, I am hoping that it is not the best solution - there is something else behind this.

Maybe someone has had the same experience before and can help me there before I spend a lot of money.

I thank you in advance for the help.

Hello, it was due to an internal error from te ABS control unit. The bug has been fixed. After the installation, a brake fluid change was made. On the way home I noticed that the brake decelerated very much. So the braking force comes in much later than usual. I can also feel a slight jerk on the brake pedal. I can depress the brake pedal in general much more easily than usual. Was there a mistake in the installation?

Air got into the system? Not properly vented? Water concentration too high?
