I brought my Hyundai ix35 to hyundai in the workshop to replace the seat cover. Shortly afterwards the workshop called me and told me that they had badly damaged the seat heating, that a new one should be installed for €300.

I had a heated argument with the workshop manager and told him that I am not ready to stand for the damage they caused and said that I would hire a lawyer.

He called the management and I got feedback. I was offered to pay the purchase price of 160 € to the workshop and more would not be possible. I was not informed in advance of any damage.

My question: "Doesn't the workshop have to pay for the damage it caused?"

Difficult question. Errors and damage can happen. An argument is of course not a good approach for finding a solution.

Depending on the year of construction, the car is 5 to 10 years old. It may also be that the heating mats are glued to the cover or to the seat cushion. This makes removal difficult. In addition, age and constant use (of the seat) can also have a negative impact on the robustness of the heating mat.

Sounds stupid, but it's positive that the workshop doesn't just hide the damage in the hope that you won't use the seat heater until after the summer.
