Driver side blowing just air/hot air while passenger side blows cool air normally. Going to take it to a Honda dealership soon but would like to find out before hand what the issue is if anyone knows.

There are a couple options. If you have dual zone climate control, you could have a stuck blend door motor. The other option is that you're low on refrigerant, which means that there's a leak in the system somewhere. It's possible that a rock or some other road debris damaged your condenser, or there's something else going on. Either way, I would expect either a blend door motor or a lack of refrigerant and I'd probably assume the latter.

I don't have dual zone climate control so I suppose that rules out the blend door motor. However, I did take a look at my condenser and notice that there was a very slight dent at the bottom right (driver side I guess). Not sure how heavily that affects the A/C. I would like to think that I could be low on refrigerant.

Appreciate the fast reply.

That could be your issue, especially if you notice an oily residue around it. Some leaks are harder to find than others and may require you to take the car back and drive it until the a/c starts acting up again because the leak may be too small to be noticeable at the original time of inspection.

I should also mention that EVENTUALLY the A/C on the driver side will get cold but not as cold as the passenger side. This would happen after a period of driving. Not sure if that bit of information is relevant or not.

Hey just take it to Honda they will change the whole condenser covered under the warranty. My 2018 civic hatchback did the same thing on a 95 degrees weather and I was almost passed out from that hot air blowing driver side a/c. Honda took the whole freaking day to do that repair but I didn’t pay a cent.

My 2009 Civic is working flawlessly in every way, while all these newer Hondas are full of problems.

I’d put money on the condenser having a small refrigerant leak. It’s a known issue with the 2.0l civics.

Mine  was the compressor that needed replacement for my 2018 Honda civic. Not under warranty. I heard that the whole HVAC system for 2016, 2017 and 2018 is a problem not just the condensor.
