Hey guys quick question i need some opinions on what could possibly be going on.

So i got into my car yesterday after work to go home and press the clutch in to start the car and i hear a pop and the clutch goes soft. It will still go down and come back up when released but there is almost no resistance until the last inch or so going down and the car will not go into any gear at all.

So i get it towed to the mechanic today with my uncle and my uncle asks me to pop the hood real quick to see if there is a visible leak from the slave cylinder so he tells me to pump the clutch which i do about 20-30 times. After this the clutch pedal goes back to normal and i am able to get the car in gear to pull onto the lift in the shop. The clutch was working fine after that in reverse and everything so i left it with the mechanic to see what the issue was.

The thing is i had my slave cylinder and master cylinder replaced in may of 2019 so exactly a year ago. What do you guys think the issue might be?

Thank you so much!

The likely failure is the master cylinder. If a master cylinder is leaking internally it can work fine on one stroke, and not on the next. If it was replaced recently, it may be under warranty.

Okay awesome thank you man ! The mechanic said he was going to replace the master cylinder so hopefully that fixes the issue. I appreciate the help
