Greetings, TPMS sensor indicated for my 2010 Honda Element.  Took to dealership and was told three of four tire sensors need replacement (estimated cost $700) but due to supply chain issues, parts may not be available for several months.  My car also has the low tire pressure indicator.  Will this indicator continue to function, with the TPMS sensor not working.  As routine practice I check tire pressure monthly, as part of basic maintenance.  How important is it to replace TPMS sensors, if the low tire pressure indicator will still function on the vehicle?  many thanks for your advice and help!

If the sensors are bad, the low tire pressure warning will not function. The TPMS light will remain on continuously. Your car will most likely pass the emissions test with bad TPMS sensors if you live in the U.S., but not so likely if you live in Europe.

TPMS sensors are important for your road safety, especially when driving at high speed and using cruise control. Dealerships are expensive for replacing TPMS sensors, you should get your vehicle tested at a tire shop like Discount Tire. I've heard they offer free TPMS diagnosis and can replace the sensors as well. I searched online and found aftermarket Element TPMS sensors for like $30 bucks each.

Thanks so much for the feedback!  The TPMS light has not remained on, and actually has not come back on since I left the dealership.  hmmm...I think I will have Discount Tire check things out.  Thanks again for the helpful advice!
