2022 Santa Fe how can I keep EPB from activating when liftgate is open?

Question

I tried bringing stuff home that was too long to fit in cargo area.  I bungeed the liftgate down, got about 4 blks and the EPB engaged. I couldn’t get my car to move.

How can i override the EPB?

You may be getting this error warning: "To release EPB: close the doors, the hood, and the tailgate, and fasten the seatbelt." which is self-explanatory.

In most Hyundai vehicles EPB disengages when you press the accelerator pedal. You can try that.

I need to bungee the lift gate for items that are too large for cargo area.  I have been able to do that on every car I have owned but this hyundai. My last hyundai I should say.  I wasn’t even told there is no spare for this vehicle. Ugh
