I am interested in a BMW 1 120d E87 5-door from 2007.

The vehicle has 177 HP as standard. Software optimization was carried out, which produces 43 hp. It is a 2 liter diesel Euro 4.

Modifications and changes to the vehicle are:

- Control chain renewed for prevention
- Dual mass flywheel, clutch u. Release bearing
- Brakes front and rear axles are almost new
- Glow plugs and Glow control unit
- Converted to performance intercooler
- Control unit optimization to 220ps

The vehicle was converted to M Technik rear apron with rear spoiler and performance front, a coilover installed and 18 inch alloy wheels.

A black headlining was installed in the interior, speedometer on red hands and white backlight.

Now my question: Is it worth buying? Is the performance too high? What is your opinion. I want to hear everything from you!

I think it's quite a leap in performance.

Thanks in advance!

I generally don't think much of chip tuning. Above all, I think the term "optimization" is misleading in this context. I understand optimization as the elimination of errors or weak points.

Here, however, it is rather the use of tolerances that the manufacturers do not leave without reason. However, this also increases the risk of higher stress, increased wear and possibly resulting from defects.

The whole thing can go well, even over a long period of time. There are enough examples of this here in the forum. But there are also opposite experiences.

So I would never buy such a car.

In general, one cannot say whether a purchase or not.

It always depends on the condition and care of the car.

For example, my car is:
120d e87 LCI (built in 2010) with 140 tkm whereby I have been on the road for 70 tkm with chip tuning (220hp) and a PPKit previously installed by BMW.

Clutch, timing chain, etc. are all still from the factory and nothing had to be renewed except for the series. Car is also well maintained. I know the car very well. You could buy this car without any problems, but I want to continue driving it myself ;)

However, you have no clues as to how the car offered has been driven and maintained over the years.

Everything can be OK with the car, but it can also end badly. There is and remains a residual risk from when the repairs will start. However, I hope that your decision will be the right one for you.

I wish you success :)

My advice to you ..... Have the car checked professionally and try to keep the purchase price as low as possible. In any case, this reduces your risk, but it cannot be completely stopped.
