My 2020 Chevy Equinox gas gauge is not working. I took it to the dealership and left it for further diagnosis and they said the repair would cost me around $1000 and that was with help from GM cost assistance .  I refused the repair and felt I could merely keep the gas gauge filled.  When I went to pick up the car, the dealership had to jump the car to get it started.  I drove the car for awhile but after I turned it off, it would not start again.  This time, a jump to the battery did not work and I had to get it towed back to the dealership to get RE-diagnosed and repaired.  I’m wondering if the gas gauge somehow drained the battery or if there is any relationship between the two problems.  Also, I’m wondering if the faulty gas gauge is a problem on Chevy equinoxes in general.

Your vehicle is too new for such problems. Can't you get this done under warranty? Equinox has minimum 3 years or 36,000 miles warranty, and optional extended warranty for 5 years and 60,000 miles.

About the gauge problem, I don't see how a faulty fuel tank level sensor can drain the battery. However, you can check if there is parasitic draw by connecting an amp meter or multimeter to the battery after turning off the engine. I highly doubt your problem is due to parasitic draw, as you mentioned the jump start did not work.
