can a kia engine failure cause the air conditioning. to malfunction

I have to replace my air conditioning...... could this be caused by my engine failure 3 months ago

I don't see how an engine failure can cause air conditioning to malfunction, unless the compressor was removed and not reinstalled properly/refrigerant recharged improperly. Why are you replacing the AC? Is it because of contamination from a defective compressor?
