AC issue in my Toyota Fortuner

Hi all, after I permanently closed the vent which allows the external air to flow into the car I need to wait for 30 sec before I can switch on the AC. My car is a 2016 Fortuner. Within this 30 sec, the AC dashboard is not responsive at all.

What do you mean by permanently closing the fresh air intake vent? The fresh vent can't be permanently closed, you can switch between fresh air or recirculation from AC settings. Or did you forcefully close the vent by doing some DIY hack?
