We live in a hot country; Car running to what should be warmed up or more.  Gauge doesn't move noticeably ie doesn't get hot BUT the car won't start if stopped and started.

No obvious reason, wait an hour or so and car will start again.

Sounds hot but doesn't show hot.

Has someone pulled the temp gauge?

Old car and an issue since lurchased second hand.

Asking for a friend (no really! Lol)

There can be several reasons for car not starting when warm. I think you should consider these:

  • Check fuse box. The ECM relay, or any other important relay for starting the engine has a bad solder joint that spreads apart when the engine gets warm. The connections inside can crack and rot overtime, the heat would expand the metal and possibly cause a bad connection.
  • Check engine coolant temp sensor readings and fuel pressure.
  • Dirty MAF sensor.
  • Bad camshaft sensor.
  • Scan for codes using OBDII scanner.
