My Kia Sorento diesel 2009  has not been running for 2 years.  engine lights come on but wont start.  no sound on the starter.  windows dont open, door locks dont work.  Could this be associated with the key mobiliser?

According to the owners manual: When you turn the ignition key to the ON position, if the IMMO indicator goes off after blinking 5 times, your transponder equipped in the ignition key is out of order.

So does this happen on your Sorento?

Immobilizer indicator in instrument cluster:

I think the windows and door locks should work when you turn the ignition key to ON position, even if immobilizer has malfunctioned. Have you checked the state of the battery? Lights in dashboard take very low power, so they would work even with almost dead battery. Do the dash lights turn off when you turn the key to start the vehicle?

Can you turn on the headlights? Does the horn work? If none of those work, then your vehicle isn't getting any power, either because of dead battery or bad connection on battery (corrosion), a bad wire, or a bad fuse box.
