The swirl flaps on my intake manifold are already rather shaky! Now the question arises to expand or buy a new intake manifold? Has anyone had any experience without swirl flaps?

Would be very grateful for answers!

I took out the throttle flaps on my BMW X5E 70 and my BMW 120d e87. The E87 is driven by my mother. No problems so far. But I don't have the feeling that the car is driving better or worse. I removed the swirl flaps and inserted the plugs. It was a relatively easy repair. Since our engines are relatively the same, I would recommend that you remove the three flaps as soon as possible. I have not noticed anything with the 6 cylinder engine and the 4 cylinder engine. Also in fuel consumption, nothing.

With some you can swap the throttle valves for better ones. Most likely you won't because you are talking about the intake manifold.

Do you already know what a suction bridge will cost?

The swirl flaps are said to improve turbulence and, among other things, to raise the engine temperature help with DPF regeneration. Since many seem to come to a sufficient temperature for DPF regeneration, even without the flaps, it seems to function technically without it.
