Broken tailgate strut - Citroen Berlingo 2020 MPV

Broken tailgate strut due to rubber cover in tailgate coming off and jamming behind strut as tailgate was shut.

Has anybody else had this problem?

Which cover? Are you talking about the rubber seal trim strip that goes around the tailgate? My 2008 Berlingo's rubber seal did come off, but after 10 years and it didn't damage the struts. Its pretty unusual to hear the rubber strip is coming off in a new car.
