My 2015 outlander sport 2.4 got hot due to no radiator cap. Now it turns over but won't start.

The radiator cap failed to be put on resulting in the motor getting hot. Now the motor turns over but won't start. There is no oil in water or water in oil, just no fire.

The engine could have been damaged due to overheating, you just can't tell from outside. The engine needs to be opened and inspected for any damage before you can continue driving your vehicle again, or you risk further damage to the engine.
