Boot pops open when unlocking car

When I press the key fob to open the car, the boot pops up and I have to go round and close it before driving off. What is the fault here?

Typically a broken cable or a defective button in the trunk. Unlocking the car via key fob also unlocks the trunk. The mechanism holding the trunk door down may not be working properly, so the trunk door opens as soon as you unlock it.
