I had considered buying a used Sharan, but the diesels are a lot more expensive. What would you choose.

It depends on how much you drive.

A diesel is not only more expensive to buy, you also pay more taxes and much more in engine repair costs!

If you only drive short distances, you will ruin the engine and the exhaust system. It takes much longer for a diesel to warm up and then you have to drive for a while until the engine and particle filter have cleaned themselves.

It is said that because of the extra tax and the price of fuel you have to drive many kilometers per year to save, but that's not true, you have to take into account the expensive repairs and spare parts costs that you have due to not driving enough.

If the place of work is less than 20 km away, you will not enjoy your diesel for long. Only if you regularly drive more than 40km will you save real money and have no trouble.

I would prefer the diesel. I also had a Sharan 1.9Tdi once. And I also drove a gasoline engine from a friend. The diesel simply has more power and that is what it needs when you load it or something. Unless you only drive short distances ...
