Since some people have gotten their BMW X5, I want to know if there are any factory defects / problems with this SUV, because I want to get one too.

I'm driving a new G05 and the wiping water indicator is no longer going out. Tank is full but Idrive still says too little washer fluid. As a result, the rear washing nozzle also no longer works. Will probably be switched off technically.

Let's see what BMW says on Monday. Either sensor broken or something.

The back seat of the BMW X5 F15 is also too deep, larger children from the age of 10 are no longer seated comfortably in the back, especially tall people have no thigh pads and sit with their knees raised on the left and right, like the monkey on the grindstone.

With the BMW X5 G05, the interior dimensions that can actually be used have not changed.

What I really like about the BMW X5 G05 is that the entire design is as beautifully retro as in a classic car. I feel very comfortable in old-fashioned cars like the upcoming BMW range from 2019.

This is as classic as my old W124 :-) just timeless or even overtime :-)

So I've only got the first 2000 km down and I'm basically very happy with the vehicle, but there are some things that don't really work well:

Sporadic failure of online services such as news or weather. Back after reboot.

The entire Apple Car Play story is basically unusable. Starts with connection problems of the iPhone to the car as such, sometimes it works, sometimes not. When connected, constant disconnections, dropouts in music playback, complete dropouts in calls etc. So only usable via iDirve Connect, but this can not Spotify (Napster and Deezer and I do not want to).

Comfort opening and closing: I've noticed a few times that this doesn't work, i.e. the car simply stays open when you leave it. Of course it's great when the car is open ... I thought I would turn on the beep so that at least I could hear it. It is super annoying when refueling, for example, when the car opens and closes every second and constantly acknowledges this with a microwave signal tone.

The BC or browsing through it sometimes does not work. It is not possible to determine in which situation this happens, from now on simply no more function when pressing the BC button.

BMW Connected App: The sending of destinations to the car only works sporadically, also not to determine why. Respectively. he reports the destination was sent, but nothing arrives at the car.

iPhone in the charging cradle wants to pay continuously via Apple Pay, but is probably an Apple and not a BMW problem. Still annoying.

Then yesterday evening the GAU: iPhone in the charging cradle, as always Apple Pay. I had clicked that away. iPhone connected to the iDrive again after a long time, but this time taken Car Play.

After about 25 minutes of driving again no Apple Car Play, open the center console and see the iPhone turn off due to heat (?) ...

In my opinion, assisted driving is very dangerous in places. In some bends on country roads I often had the situation that the car had steered so far out towards the forest that I thought it was over now. And you actually have to do a lot to counter it so that it fits again. Not very pleasant.

Is now complaining at a high level, but nevertheless all the great SW features seem to be knitted with the hot needle and that annoys animal. Especially with a car in the 6-digit EUR range, in my opinion it shouldn't be.

To be honest, that tarnishes the whole picture a bit and I assume that a lot of it will be solved by software updates. But still I ask myself the question, is everything really as bad as it was sold by the marketing department and the manufacturer?

That is why I and many others have completely switched off this feature because it is not 100% reliable.

I didn't order it at all, I just ordered what was installed and reduced it to the minimum.

Imagine that this does not happen to you on a lonely country road, but in an AB construction site and you end up in oncoming traffic. Then it's really over.

This whole assi nonsense is immature. Who is liable if there is a crash? YOU.

I have had my G05 m-sport for 2 years and it has been plagued with electrical issues.

The electric rear seats would fold back to upright and this was found to be an issue with the wiring loom being routed incorrectly and pulling the plug out.

The self levelling system has just been replaced as the Hill Descent system kept flashing up warnings.

Lane departure, traction control and driver assist have all had warnings flash up.

The worst event was when the car had a complete meltdown which resulted in me being locked in the vehicle. After trying to start the car there was popping behind the dash, the mirrors were folding in and out, the hazards were flashing, and door locks popping up and down. After being without the car for over a month BMW decided the battery was at fault!

Ever since I have owned the car there has been a hesitation/splutter - like a misfire - every now and again. The local dealer and supplying dealer have had the car many times and cannot get to the bottom of the issue.

Other than that it’s a great car and, yes, I would have another one tomorrow

New "shortcoming": my electrically retractable rear roller blind has given up the ghost, it closed a last time a week ago when the tailgate was closed and now does nothing at all, including the (also long) pressing of the two buttons on the left to lower / lower / Automatic shutdown have no effect.

I don't need to ask the dealer because they have never seen such a part except for me. Does somebody has any idea?

And with the foot opening of the tailgate, I am still at war, I have no reproducible solution to the opening by swiveling the foot.

Climate control: after I was of course very annoyed at first that the button for the driver's seat heater was defective when it was delivered, it was probably so wanted by BMW God.

Of course, it is not possible to replace a single button; the entire control unit for the ventilation control was replaced. According to the dealer, the thing costs €2500 as a spare part, a good final inspection would probably be cheaper. Anyway, since the whole thing was changed, I now have a new display from the ventilation. And that's different. My first one glowed white (i.e. the writing), and orange in the dark. The new one is multi-colored, so writing white and ventilation indicator orange. Even in the dark, the coloring remains the same, I like it 1000 times better ... Thanks for the broken button.

Do not know yet whether this is a mistake ... Yesterday, the mirrors were foggy for the first time in the morning. I had in mind that the mirror heating switches on by itself if necessary and therefore I waited for now. After about 5 minutes nothing happened, so I switched on the rear window heater. A little later something happened on the passenger mirror, again 5 minutes later on the driver mirror. That with the rear window heater probably had no effect, but why don't both mirrors heat at the same time?

Had it for a year now, a x5 g05 m50d.. love it. But... some issues with idrive, some settings sometimes wont save.. Apple carplay has some annoyances, where the worst is it ”steals” the audio. Still, can live with these minor things.

However, the rear hatch has had problems from the start, the rear lower latch wouldn't open if the car was parked in the tiniest downhill angle. This caused the upper hatch to also stop midway, sw has been rebooted and now last fix by the dealer they ”cleaned and lubricated the hatch push-out mechanism”, this seems to have helped at the moment.

But latest problem is the rear hatch leaking water. Somewhere inside the upper hatch water is collected inside it.. when opening it up it seems to run forward inside the hatch and then when closing it, water pours out from inside the panel on the inside of the hatch (where buttons to close and close/lock the car are). Another drive to the dealer.. but apart from this and the sketchy auto-drive it is absolute heaven to drive so you soon forget the issues.
