The manual says that I should take BMW Longlife 01 or Longlife 04. That corresponds to 0W40 or 5W30.

I don't know what my decision now depends on. Maybe you can recommend one to me.

My car is a 2009 BMW E90 318i. I drive about 15,000 miles / year

And including short and long distances. Whereby the shortest distances I drive are at least 5 miles.

Order the original oil.

On my 14-year-old Renault Kangoo, I use DIY store oil of quality 5W30. However, I only have one liter of it in the trunk. I've never had to refill anything outside of the oil change.

My workshop tips over the Castrol 5W30 when changing the oil and the filling is easily enough for 30,000 km in summer and winter.

You can also get the performance oil, the 0W40 ... is just more expensive.

Take the 0W40.

With the 5W30 you are not doing anything wrong per se, but oil can be ordered online so cheaply that you can easily get the best.

Incidentally, the LL04 is specially designed for diesel with DPF. But you can also use it with gasoline vehicles. But if I were you I would go to LL01 and 0W40.
