I wanted to inquire about the realistic consumption of a BMW 520i (E39 series) with 150 hp. Unfortunately I have no experience with it. My old 728i (E38 series) used about 12 liters per 100 kilometers.

There is a 520i from the family environment that we could take over - but we don't want a petrol eater who drinks endlessly. Limit would be about 9-10 liters. Actually, such a car is now much too big for us.

What would such a (manual gearbox, year 2000) use roughly? Driving rather dignified, vehicle would be intended for the daily commute.

Realistically, I would carefully tap the 9 to 9.5 liters depending on the accelerator.

That depends on the driving style. I use my W211 E500 with a V8 5 liter engine with a very calm driving style, I can push through 20-25 liters. I used to have an average consumption of 13 liters with my E46 320i. The E39 would also be in the frame. But as I said, it really depends on the driving style.
